Shimmering in solitude past the distant mountains, one creature stirred on this night around the base of Mt. BoltRock. Raising her wings, but keeping them folded at the half-point, she thought if she should go...or stay. To go meant to go through an army of humans. To stay, she would have to deal with other creatures of the night. Pondering on her decision, she stepped out into the moonlight. Her white scales shone with elegant beauty, and the tip of her sharp horn glowed dimly. She couldn't make any decision, for if she did, she would burden the life of another. By going through human territory, she would endanger the dragons held hostage there. By waiting it out, evil beings would come for her. With a simple nod to herself in reassurance, she flapped her wings, the gust picking up dust and smacking it against the cave walls behind her. Instantly, she rose into the cold air as the wind pierced her as she flew. The chill of silence made her shudder once, but never did she shudder again for the rest of the night. Maneuvering her tail, she used it carefully as a rudder and tilted her wings, diving down to the ground. Her landing was so soft, not even he smallest depression was created in the ground Leaves were kicked up by the wind, but other than that, it was still silent. Scanning around the forested area with her black and yellow eyes, she couldn't see anything alive, save for plants.
"You're finally here...I've been waiting so long..." She abruptly jerked her neck toward the voice, finding a man dressed in a long cloak, completely hiding his identity, "Lightning, my good friend, let me teach you what you cannot teach yourself on your own...come and be my apprentice." Intrigued, she followed the man as he turned and began pacing away. He stopped at a dark portal, its constant swirling could easily entertain a little baby.
"Lightning, I must tell you this ahead of time. You may not ever come out from this portal...alive." She only nodded and stepped in after him, feeling herself being taken away. Once she had come to the other side, she hit the ground with a hard thud and struggled to look at her new master. What just happened? A tiny fall was no where near fatal enough to cause this much pain. The man strolled up to her and crouched down, placing his hand just on her horn, "This is the side effect of an aura around here...Learn to overcome it young dragonness." With that, he turned and left her alone to suffer. Everywhere a jolt of agony would strike her, although no blood was shed, it all felt like she was being hammered to the ground.
Is this...what became of our kind...?
